Falcons chosen for Brumbies

Faloncs Eleni Davis, Isabella Kiely and HOlly Christison have all been chosen for the inaugural ACT

Far South Coast Falcons Rugby Union Club players have been selected in the ACT Schoolgirls side by the ACT Brumbies, to play Melbourne Rebels on 29 July in Albury and NSW Combined High Schools Schoolgirls on 9 August in Merrlyands.

Successful Falcons are Holly Christison of Bega High School, Bella Kiely of Eden Marine High School and Eleni Ives of St Peters Anglican College, Broulee. Molly Carr and Sisilia Ragatu, also of Bega High School, made it through to the Development Squad.

Rhianna Burke and Kirra Burke of Jindabyne Central School were also selected for the Schoolgirls side. Rhianna and Kirra a former Falcons and are considered by their fellow players as two of the most inspirational young women on the girls Rugby circuit.

A total of 30 girls were selected, following the recent Inaugural Schoolgirls Invitational Tournament in Canberra, where Falcons players played on the ACT Provincial team.

Far South Coast Falcons' Head Coach and ACT Provincial Coach, Scott Harris said, "It's so pleasing that the girls' skill, enthusiasm and dedication has been recognised and rewarded by selection. Now the really hard work begins."

Secretary of the club, Kate Howarth, encourages girls aged 12-16 from the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla and the Cooma area interested in Rugby Union to make contact with Far South Coast Falcons.

"We are always seeking new players and families to join the Falcons. We are in the middle of our Tens season now and will soon start training for Sevens. Sevens runs through Spring and Summer and is really competitive, fast and fun, with opportunities to play in Tathra, Canberra and around Southern NSW," she said.

During the school holidays many of the Red Falcons players from both the U14 and U16  sides will be attending the ACT Brumbies Emerging Talent camp, including several girls who are supported by the Sapphire Coast Arts and Sport Youth Development fund.
